MegaFood Reinvents Their Multiple Vitamins With a Purpose
I have been a MegaFood customer for over 40 years. There are not many companies that have been around that long. Most supplement companies of today were not around at that time. And many companies from that time are no longer in existence. It’s astounding to me to reflect on that. I remember what attracted me to the company when their brand was Essential Organics. They were one of the first brands to include food and herbs in their vitamins. I loved that brand. I have been a customer all through the years as it morphed into MegaFood and FoodState. MegaFood has now become one of the top tier food based company in the natural products industry.
Recent years have seen the collaboration of MegaFood with Dr. Andrew Weil and Dr. Tieraona Low Dog. This collaboration has lead to an innovative rethinking of the role of multi vitamins and how they can be designed to better serve the consumer. MegaFood does a lot of specific things to differentiate itself and we have done many interviews here where we discuss these distinctions. You can easily learn more by listening to our other MegaFood interviews.
In some ways I think the first step is for consumers to consider MegaFood as a supplement line. It is very different and MegaFood strives to add nutritional value to their supplements in way that is unlike any other company. It is important that you understand and appreciate the MegaFood difference. Once you are on board with MegaFood, then you get to explore their many products.

This interview is largely about the new approach to multi-vitamins. You can learn more from Dr. Low Dog in her new book Fortify Your Life. Dr. Low Dog and MegaFood worked long and hard to create products that will meet most of your basic nutritional needs. Dr. Erin Stokes will discuss the rationale behind the formulas. The approach is basically this; your multi-vitamin is two per day and is age and gender specific. There is no calcium in the multi-vitamin as calcium is impossible to get in significant amounts in most multis. MegaFood has a separate calcium bone formula that is designed to let you adjust the calcium to your specific needs and to get enough calcium to make a difference in the formula. Separating the multi from the calcium helps ensure you will get the best amount of both. You can also listen to my previous interview with Dr. Low Dog on her book Life is Your Best Medicine. Dr. Low Dog is an inspiring healer.
Another common problem with multi-vitamins is that they are very high in some vitamins and very low in others. MegaFood dosages are in the range of the recommended daily values and designed to provide most nutrients in significant values. The nutrients are in the forms most easily utilized. MegaFood nutrients are in food state form and are easily digested by people, even with the most sensitive stomachs.
In this interview with Dr. Erin Stokes, you will learn about how Dr. Low Dog and MegaFood have addressed some of the issues with common multi-vitamins. One way to have confidence in a brand is to look at who recommends those brands. If you have confidence in an expert like Dr. Andrew Weil, then his endorsement should go a long way in giving you confidence in the products he recommends. It’s good to have friends in high places.
MegaFood products are certified to be pure and free of most common allergens. They are easy to digest, even by people with the most sensitive stomachs. MegaFood products are easily tolerated even on an empty stomach.
