Collagen supports skin, hair, nails and all tissues in your body.
In this interview with Charlie Bailes we will discuss collagen. Many of you have heard of collagen. Some of you are taking collagen as a supplement. Charlie will explain the different types of collagen and the benefits of collagen to human health. Charlie will explain what are the distinctions that you need to understand.
What is collagen?
Select content provided by CBSupplements.com.
Collagen is the most abundant type of protein found in all mammals, including humans. It is located in many parts of our bodies including hair, nails, skin, bones, muscles, tendons, our blood vessels, many vital organs including the heart, lungs and our digestive system, most notably the small intestine.
The body produces collagen through fibroblasts (not via an organ) which are cells that live in all of our connective tissues. It’s their job to make collagen for our skin, bone, ligaments, and tendons.
Collagen’s important functions
One of the critical functions of collagen is to simply makeup our skeleton – bones are made of collagen calcium and phosphorus. Collagen also holds our skin in place and allows muscles to be attached to bones and other muscles (tendons and ligaments are made of collagen).
Distinctions to Consider
1. Ingredients: Choose a multi collagen that comes from all 4 food sources (Beef, Chicken, Fish, & Eggs) because it’ll provide all 5 Types of Collagen (I, II, III, V, X). Consider the following:
- Grass-fed Beef
- Non-GMO
- Gluten-free
- Manufactured in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) facility and (if this matters to you, and it does for most) in the U.S.
- Free of Artificial Sweeteners (especially their flavors)
- Bonus: Paleo-friendly, Lactose-free, Soy-free, Dairy-free
- Extra Bonus: an M.D. and/or Nutritionist supports the collagen supplement (for example, Dr. Cate, M.D. supports CBSupplements collagen).

Charlie Bailes is the CEO & founder of CB Supplements, a company specializing in helping people thrive with multi-collagen protein products. As a collagen expert, he often talks about its nutrition benefits to help people solve various health issues from joint recovery and productivity to even sleeping better at night.
He’s also a husband, a dad of 3, a crossfitter, and a health nut (obviously). He loves meeting new people and having meaningful conversations. His main goal is to inspire others to act to help themselves.
“In 2014, my daughter Vivian was sick more often than not. Though she wasn’t diagnosed with pediatric cancer, a birth defect, or a terminal disease, we visited the hospital too often. My wife and I were at a breaking point so we turned to research. This is what started me down the road of healthy discovery, collagen, and how I ended up founding a supplement company. This is my collagen testimonial.”
