Jolie Root Discusses the Carlson Fish Oil Difference
How to identify what makes a quality brand and product.
We have used Carlson Lemon Flavored Liquid Fish Oil for nearly 20 years. The difference in our health has been exceptional. Marine based omega-3 is my number 1 recommended nutritional supplement. I have come to believe that without sufficient and balanced omega-3 fatty acids one will struggle to manage inflammation. This has been my personal and professional experience.
There are compelling distinctions between Carlson Fish Oil and almost every other brand of fish oil in the market today. It is these distinctions I will discuss today with Jolie. It is easy to claim that a product is the best, but how do you know? The distinctions we discuss could be done by other companies but there are very few companies willing to commit to this extraordinary level of quality.
I believe that good companies that create exceptional products deserve to be recognized. Quality, safety and effectiveness don’t happen by accident. Quality products are created by a deliberate and focused approach that sets the highest standard. Many companies say they have the highest quality, when if fact they quality is actually low. So how can consumers tell the difference? This is what we will discuss today with Jolie Root. If you want an example of the characteristics of an exceptional company look no further than Carlson Labs. If you seek out companies that have similar style, then you can feel confident in using their products. Here are things to consider, in no particular order. They are all important.
Is this a family owned business? Carlson Labs began in 1965 with Susan and John Carlson. Their daughters, Carilyn and Kristen, run the company today.
How long have they been in business? Since 1965. Carlson is an international company. They are known and respected around the world. Read More
In regards to Carlson Fish Oil (content provided by Carlson Labs)
Sustainable from the inside out.
Inside
At Carlson, we are as committed to the environment as we are to the high quality of our products. Our fish oils are made with the purest, most potent oil sourced from wild-caught fish found in deep, unpolluted waters. We use low-impact fisheries, with ethical practices and sustainable methods. The fish we use to make our products are quickly and easily replenished due to the natural fish lifecycle. And every part of the fish caught for Carlson fish oil is ultimately used for human or animal consumption, so no part of the fish is wasted.
Carlson fish oils are processed in state-of-the-art Norwegian facilities following Norway’s strict controls and regulations. They are purified without chemicals, and a touch of antioxidants are added to preserve freshness and to prevent oxidation. We submit our fish oil products to third-party programs, like the International Fish Oil Standards (IFOS) and the International GMO Evaluation and Notification (IGEN), as well as FDA-registered laboratories for additional analysis, including quality assessments to confirm freshness, potency, and purity.
As a whole, Norway’s fishing industry is closely monitored by the Norwegian government to protect the waters and local environment. Carlson and our suppliers also hold Friend of the Sea (FOS) certification. Friend of the Sea is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, whose mission is marine habitat conservation. Known for their strict guidelines and procedures, FOS is a leading international certification project.
Outside
Carlson was a pioneer in the North American fish oil industry, introducing sustainably-sourced omega-3s from Norway in the early 1980s. Since then, it’s been our priority to help preserve the waterways for future generations. Carlson is a leader in the omega-3 fish oil market – and now we’re determined to become leaders in the industry in taking action to protect the environment and our waterways. All Carlson nutritional supplement bottles are recyclable, but we’re going one step further.
Carlson has partnered with GreenPrint’s IMPACT COLLECTIVE to offset our plastic footprint and increase sustainability efforts. IMPACT COLLECTIVE is a group of forward-thinking brands committed to taking immediate and positive environmental action. Together, we are empowered to be responsible stewards of our planet, while providing our customers with the same high-quality products. By participating in certified plastic projects, Carlson has taken another step in our commitment to sustainability.
We are beginning our plastic neutral journey by offsetting the plastic in our omega-3 and children’s products, meaning we are removing proportionate amounts of plastic by weight from our waterways through certified IMPACT COLLECTIVE projects – some of the very waters our products are sourced from. By 2050, it’s estimated there will be more plastic in the oceans than there are fish (by weight). Through our participation in IMPACT COLLECTIVE, we are working to change this by removing plastic from the areas most affected.
Look for the Reduced Impact seal on Carlson products, and please recycle your bottle.
Taste – It tastes so good people can’t believe it is fish oil.
Carlson Laboratories continued its winning streak picking up Superior Taste Awards from the International Taste & Quality Institute (ITQI) for six of their fish oil products. These prestigious awards are considered the Michelin stars of the food industry. Awarded products include: Carlson The Very Finest Fish Oil in lemon and orange flavors, Cod Liver Oil in lemon flavor, MedOmega in lemon-lime flavor, Super D Omega-3 liquid in lemon flavor, and Carlson for Kids Cod Liver Oil in fruit splash flavor.
ITQI is the leading independent chef and sommelier organization dedicated to testing and promoting superior tasting food and drinks from around the world. A panel of renowned chefs and sommeliers judge products in a blind taste test. The judges assign each product a numeric score based on a sensory analysis that incorporates the product’s appearance, smell, texture, flavor, and mouth feel.
Potency – 1 tsp. = 1600 mg. of omega-3 fatty acids. This makes it easy to consume an effective dose.
