Who couldn’t use better brain health. I remember many years ago the conventional wisdom was that you can’t do much about your brain health. Another myth presented to us as though it were fact and settled science. Now we know that your brain is very malleable and capable of changing and improving. One of the challenges for consumers is understanding the distinctions between the many nutrients that have shown benefit. What should you try and why?

Begin the process by recognizing that you are unique. The best nutritional solution for your problem is the one that works best for you. So this is a process of discovery. There are many conditions that can affect your brain and that can impact focus, memory, energy, mood and so on. Some issues are serious and complex and other may be more normal. You need to evaluate and articulate what are your issues. The more you understand your own circumstances, the better you will be able to target your search for solutions. Please remember, even if you are being treated with drugs for your problems, drugs are not nutrients and do not nourish the brain. Only food and supplements can provide you with the nutrients your brain needs.

I believe the one nutrient you should always include is marine based omega-3 DHA. This is the key fat for your brain and eyes and should be considered foundational. Everyone needs this fat and nothing will replace it. So take your fish oil. There are many interviews here with the experts on omega-3. Take some time and learn why DHA is so important for your brain health. Then as you add other specific nutrients you can evaluate what is working and what isn’t. This is often the frustrating part of discovery. There are many nutrients and many experts.

You have to become your own expert of your journey to health. You have to research, make a decision what to try, then commit to trying quality products for enough time, evaluate how has it worked and decide whether to continue and/or try other things. Then repeat. The basic premise is that your body needs to be well nourished to function well. Your brain is no different. In fact your brain consumes 20% of your energy. A body (brain) that is well nourished will do better than one that is not. You need to learn how to do this.

In this interview with James LaValle we are going to discuss some of the nutrients that nourish and support brain function. And we are going to review three products that contain various combinations targeting brain health. I mentioned that there are many nutrients that benefit your brain. There is no product that contains them all. So what we have are three products from Kyolic, each with a different target and somewhat different range of nutrients. The targets are Brain Energy, Focus and Memory.Kyolic_Brain
