These are just a few of the key components to consider when evaluating any product or company. I have preached this many times: In order to find the best products, you have to first find the best companies. Companies who pass the tests and produce products you can trust is what you are seeking. This is perhaps the most important thing in this exploding market of CBD. How do you know which products and companies are worthy of your trust and dollars?

Consumers assume CBD is CBD, without distinction except perhaps for milligram potency. But there is so much more to the story. In this interview with Stuart Tomc, we are going to discuss many of the important distinctions that tell the story of traceability, transparency and so on. We are using CV Sciences’ PlusCBD Oil as our model. If you have followed our interviews on PlusCBD Oil then you already have a good foundational background. If not you can find those interviews here.

I have focused on CV Sciences for one simple reason: They set the highest standard in the industry for CBD. When you appreciate everything they do, that other companies do not do, it is easy to recommend PlusCBD Oil. The worst mistake a consumer can make is to believe that every product is equally good, and safe, and third party tested and on and on. It’s work to identify quality companies, but once you do, then you can have confidence to try any of their products and determine what works best for you.

Here is a list of some of the things you can and should consider. Ask any company for this information and see what answers you get. Good companies want consumers to know these things. Smart consumers will want to know this as well. These are the distinctions that set companies apart. These are the answers for CV Sciences and PlusCBD Oil.

  • Industrial HempWhere does the seed come from? European Certified Seeds
  • Where is it grown? In Europe by certified growers.
  • How is it grown? 100% outdoor, non GMO, free of chemicals and pesticides.
  • What are the genetic strains? – Fedora 17 and Futura 75. These are the same plants that produce food grade hemp seed and oil. These plants have less than .3% THC on a dry weight basis. This is the standard for industrial hemp.
  • What about genetic testing? Genetic testing shows that PlusCBD Oil is 100% made from certified hemp seeds and not drug types of Cannabis. Be aware that there is also a lot of CBD made from marijuana strains.
  • What is the extraction method? Chemical free CO2 Extraction is used to ensure stability and quality. No harsh chemicals or solvents are used.
  • Is there third party testing? All PlusCBD Oil products are sent to third party independent labs to confirm what is listed on the label and confirmed to be free of adulterants. This is huge. Every manufacturer should be third party testing their products and providing those results to consumers upon request.
  • What’s in the product? PlusCBD Oil is a full spectrum product, meaning it contains the naturally occurring fatty acids, various cannabinoids, plant terpenes and phytosterols and naturally occurring vitamin E. Each product is standardized to milligram potency of CBD.
  • Is there a Supplement Facts Panel on the package? PlusCBD Oil is sold as a dietary supplement. If the CBD is being sold as a supplement then it must by law, have a Supplement Facts Panel. The Supplement Facts Panel is required on all supplements and has all of the pertinent information about the product. Many products in the market place lack the Supplement Facts Panel. These are the products you should avoid.
  • Is the product tested for safety? PlusCBD Oil has just recently been tested and the results were published in the Journal of Toxicology, June 2018. This is the only company that I know of who has studies showing their products are safe and not toxic, event at higher doses.
  • Is the product used and endorsed by others? I have interviews with experts such as Dr. Hector Lopez and Dr. Aimee Shunney both who recognize CV Sciences as a company they trust. Their knowledge, experience and confidence in CV Sciences speaks loudly to me.
  • Does the company make medical claims? CV Sciences does not make any medical claims because there are no medical claims allowed by FDA. If a company is making medical claims, be wary. Making medical claims for CBD is unethical and illegal. The benefits of CBD come from it’s nourishing effects on the endocannibinoid system. PlusCBD Oil is a dietary supplement.

These higher standards are important. Many companies who produce CBD are not able to pass this kind of standard. As long as you the consumer knows what you are getting and are happy with lower standards and quality, then there is no problem. But if these distinctions are important to you (and I suggest they are very important) then you want to compare products on various criteria and then make your choice.

From this examination, I think you can see why I like CV Sciences. There are other good companies in the industry. The challenge is finding companies you can trust. Again, find a good company, quality products will follow. As always, the best product is the one that works best for you.

CV Sciences is committed to the consumers and the hemp industry as a whole. They have been highly involved in educating the consumers, retailers, farmers, legislators, state and federal regulators. Again, I don’t know of another company who has done as much. These efforts are important to the advancement of CBD. CV Sciences is a supporter of the Hemp Industries Association. (see below).
