Clinically studied PGX and Berberine can make the difference.
Losing weight and managing blood sugar are challenging for many consumers. There are many issues that affect weight and each person must examine their lifestyle to best understand the lifestyle choices that affect them uniquely. To have success one must attend to those; diet, exercise, mindfulness and committing to good choices are prerequisites to success. Nutritional supplements are adjuncts to a weight and blood sugar management regimen.
In this interview Dr. Rhéaume describes two nutrients, PGX (polyglycoplex)and Berberine and how they are used to support weight and blood sugar management.*
PGX (Polyglycoplex)
PGX is a unique fiber that has amazing benefits for weight loss and blood sugar support.* Another benefit of PGX is supporting healthy cholesterol levels.* If you are challenged by these issues, you should consider PGX. I have two previous interviews on PGX with Dr. Michael Murray and Dr. Michael Lyon. Listen to these three interviews and you will have an excellent overview and understanding about PGX and how to use it effectively.
If you would like additional information go to PGX.com. There you can learn about the science behind PGX. You can also download the PBX Basic Quick Start program which can help you get started. PGX is available in capsules, powder and drink mixes. You can use them interchangeably. The Basic Quick Start Program will explain how they can be used. Berberine
The second nutrient discussed by Dr. Rhéaume is berberine. Berberine is a naturally occurring plant alkaloid found in various plants, including barberry, goldenseal, and Oregon grape. Many herbalists credit this unique alkaloid for the beneficial effects of many traditional tonics made from these plants. Berberine plays an important role in blood sugar (glucose) metabolism and cardiovascular health.* Berberine helps maintain healthy blood sugar and total cholesterol levels already within the normal range.*
Natural Factors Berberine is a great example of the challenges consumers face in finding quality natural products. Natural products are regulated by FDA, however FDA has done a very poor job of identifying and removing illegal nutritional products. It is truly a buyers beware marketplace. You have to find the good companies and good products.
Why testing finished goods matters
Here are the results of a recent closer look into the berberine marketplace. This reveals why testing of finished goods is critical. This is why I constantly press this point; you must identify credible and reliable companies in order to find effective products. Natural Factors Berberine was the only product exclusively in the natural products channel that met label claims.

Thanks so much for your articles on PGX and Berberine. I’m taking PGX but wonder if I could add Berberine. I’m pretty sure I have some insulin resistance and I’m trying to begin a real foods regime by following the advice of Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr.Reaume, and cutting out all the awful junk by eliminating all processed foods. Otherwise, I’m in good health.
Thanks so much for answering,
anne
Hello Anne,
Yes it would be OK to take the berberine along with PGX. They should work well together. Best wishes.
